AWESOME!!
You're about to show us how great your weird and wacky imagination can be! We've created a fun writing game and we'd like to know if you're up for the challenge!
This is not your average snooze-fest writing contest (BORING!). Nope... it's all about wacky, random, silly combinations.
You're going to let the roll of a die determine your story elements (Main Character, Setting, Plot Problem, Genre/Tone/Twist, and Story Ending). You have to take those random elements and put them together to create a weird & wacky story.
Will it make sense? Probably not.
Will it make you laugh? Most definitely.
How to Enter
Ages 8-12 | Oct. 20 - Nov. 7
2. Pick Any Prompt in the Book & Write Your Story
Each book has 50 story prompts.
Choose one and roll the die for each story element: Main Character, Setting, Plot Problem, Genre/Tone/Twist, and Story Ending. Each element has 6 options and the die decides which one you use. See examples on book product page here.
Fill out your storyboard (get it here).
Then... take those weird & wacky elements and write your wonderfully creative story!
3. Submit Your Completed Story
Type your story (include your Name, Age, Story Title, and Story Elements at the top).
Save as a PDF.
Email it to boxbookpublishing@gmail.com by Friday, November 7th at 11:59pm (CST).
Winner will be chosen by a panel of judges (2 adults & 4 kids) and announced on Monday, November 10th.

Open to kids ages 8–12.
Judging & Prizes
A panel of judges from Box Book Publishing will review all entries.
Stories will be judged on creativity, originality, use of the prompt, and overall fun factor!
The winner will be announced on Monday, November 10, 2025.
Important Details
Your story must be your own original work — no AI assistance or plagiarism.
All submissions will be screened using AI detection tools to verify authenticity.
Only one entry per person.
Entries received after the deadline will not be considered.
Final Note
This contest is all about creativity, imagination, and FUN! Don’t overthink it — let your wild ideas fly and show us just how wacky your storytelling can be!
