Our Use of AI: A Creative Companion, Not a Replacement

At Box Book Publishing, we believe in the power of imagination, storytelling, and heartfelt creativity—and we’re not afraid to embrace the tools that help us bring those stories to life.

As part of our commitment to transparency, we want to share how we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our creative process. Think of it like this: AI is our behind-the-scenes brainstorming buddy, our never-sleeps note-taker, and sometimes, our personal cheerleader when the coffee wears off, the exhaustion kicks in, and the ideas stall.

How We Use AI

AI supports us in the early and practical stages of the creative process, including:

  • Brainstorming story ideas
(Sometimes we start with a random idea and want to know how to best bring it to life for our readers.)

  • Outlining and organizing plots
(Because clarity doesn’t always come naturally at 10 p.m. after school pick-up, sports practices, and homework help. As moms, we're working with a million distractions at any given moment. All the creativity in the world gets you nowhere if you can't get it organized.)

  • Developing characters and their quirks
(We love digging deep into personalities, motivations, and the "what would they do?" moments. We always initialize our characters and AI sometimes helps build their personalities so we know where to take them.)

  • Creating helpful lists and content
Like writing prompts, fun activity ideas, parenting tips, or inspirational quotes. Because we're juggling so many tasks and responsibilities (both personally and professionally), we're always stretched thin. Sometimes we have nothing left for social media, so AI is helpful in creating that content (always with our vision and values).

What AI Doesn’t Do

We don’t use AI to replace our voices, our values, or our hearts. Every story, book, or blog post is written with real human care. We are the minds and heart behind every project with the warmth and humor that reflect who we are. AI gives us direction, so we can do the creative work of getting our characters through their stories. AI doesn’t make our decisions—it just helps us explore more of them.

Some of our books are so near and dear to our hearts that they have no AI influence or input- like Josie Kate Jenkins. Some are brought to life because AI helped us brainstorm and clarify our own ideas into something manageable we could create. When used properly, it is a helpful tool, even for the most creative.

Why We Use It

Let’s be honest—being a mom, a writer, a creator, and a business owner is a lot. Between loading the dishwasher and unloading our ideas onto the page, AI is like a smart, patient, and always-available assistant who helps us stay organized and inspired.

We see AI as an extension of our creative process, not a shortcut. It helps us be more efficient, more consistent, and more present—for our work and our families.

A Note About the Future

AI is becoming a common tool across creative industries, and for good reason—it can help level the playing field, reduce overwhelm, and spark new ideas. But we also believe it should be used ethically, transparently, and responsibly. That's our commitment to you.

At Box Book Publishing, our stories will always be driven by real experiences, real imagination, and real people.

We care about the quality of our content and we want it to reflect the heart and the voice of family.
