The Reality of Being a Mom, Author, and Business Owner (All Before Coffee)
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about purpose. It’s about doing the best we can, with what we have, where we are (even if that’s in sweatpants and a messy bun).

The Reality of Being a Mom, Author, and Business Owner (All Before Coffee)
Let’s be clear: if you’re picturing a serene morning routine, soft piano music, and a fresh latte in hand while I gracefully glide from mom life to business life... you’ve got the wrong blog.
The real story?
I'm rushing to get everyone fed, organized, the dog out, and trying not to forget my own lunch, as I rush out the door to drop kids off and get to my day-job—all while my brain is juggling twelve tabs I haven’t opened yet.
Welcome to life as a mom, author, and business owner.
Multitasking? More Like Multi-Mayhem.
Being a mom is a full-time job.
So is managing a household.
So is writing books.
So is running a business.
Now try doing all four before getting to work at 7:30 a.m.—preferably without accidentally putting the milk in the pantry closet.
On any given day, I’m bouncing between:
An 8-hour work day at my day job
Carpools for sports practices and events
Dinner and laundry
Scribbling a story idea into my notebook before it disappears forever
Making sure my husband, children, and dog get affection and attention
Trying to figure out how to navigate and juggle a social media presence for business
Finding time to write and create products
Getting adequate sleep and not forgetting to maintain personal hygiene
It’s beautiful chaos. Emphasis on chaos.
Why We Do It (Even When We Have to Sacrifice Sleep)
Here’s the thing: we don’t do this because it’s easy. We do it because we love it.
Creating books that make kids laugh, encouraging other moms in their journey, and reminding parents that wholesome stories do still exist? That’s the stuff that keeps us going. (That and caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine.)
Box Book Publishing was born from a deep desire to offer families the kinds of stories we were craving ourselves—fun, funny, heart-warming books that promote kindness and character without a bunch of yucky stuff.
We’re building this dream between sports practices, band concerts, and dinner dishes. We’re writing stories and designing books while the laundry spins. And somehow, we’re figuring out email marketing in the school pick-up line.
Is it messy? Yes.
Do we sometimes cry into our wine glass? Also yes.
But it’s worth every wild minute.
Real Life, Real Purpose
So if you're a parent chasing a dream, juggling a million hats, or just trying to make it through the day with your sense of humor intact—you’re not alone.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about purpose.
It’s about doing the best we can, with what we have, where we are (even if that’s in yoga pants and a messy bun).
At the end of the day (or the very early start of one), we’re building something we believe in—and we’re doing it one story, one cup of coffee, and one chaotic morning at a time.
To all the dream-chasing mamas out there: keep going.
You're doing better than you think. And if you’re reading this while reheating your coffee for the third time?
Same, friend. Same.
We’d love to hear from you!
Are you a fellow mama chasing a dream between school pick-up and laundry piles? Drop a comment and tell us what keeps you going—or what your coffee count is today.
